Rediscovering DCS

What comes to mind when someone mentions DCS? Whether based on personal or work experiences, stories from people you know, or from T.V. and movies, almost everyone has some sort of image of what DCS is like. One goal of our System of Care Consortium is to gain a better understanding of how our systems work and how we can all support each other in making Elkhart County a safe and healthy place for our children and families. We are so excited to have the Local Office Director of DCS for Elkhart County, Jim Cornish, as the presenter for our September meeting.

Jim will discuss the current successes and challenges facing our DCS office, help us understand how processes work, share local data, and provide time for your questions. We will better understand DCS, as well as how we, as a community, can help support our DCS workers and create better outcomes for our kids.

Medicaid Highlight: We are also pleased to have Martha Leon, Coordinator for Insurance Navigation at Oaklawn, join us! She will give a brief presentation highlighting the upcoming Medicaid changes and be available at the resource table during our networking time to answer questions.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Throughout the year in a series of gatherings, we will work together for youth mental health and wellness. Join us at Ivy Tech Goshen Community Center on Tuesdays, every other month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am for a dynamic conversation with area leaders. This will be an excellent opportunity to:

  • LEARN local data trends through the Elkhart County Child Dashboard
  • GET TO KNOW our systems and each other’s programs
  • NETWORK and ACT together

All events will take place at the same time and location. Coffee will be provided! Please contact Kelly Cataldo at Kelly.Cataldo@oaklawn.org with questions. Registration is not required.
